Artist and Interior Designer

Laura Gompertz with a watercolour painting of a house in New Orleans
Laura  now paints full time after a varied career in art and design. She has been professionally showing her paintings since 2008.

Her first love was theatre. Laura graduated in Theatre Design from Nottingham Trent University in 1985 after a foundation course at Middlesex University. Her theatre work began earlier, as holiday jobs while a teenager, sewing ballet costumes for the English National Ballet, working at Bermans and Nathans Costumiers and as a costume designer for the National Youth Theatre.

Her professional theatre work includes 2 seasons in Scarborough at the Stephen Joseph Theatre. Design work included sets and costumes for Alan Ayckbourn premieres. She has designed pantomimes, touring shows and film for productions across the UK.

She has run her own product design business, making personalised gifts for children and until recently has worked as an interior designer.

She founded her company, Laura Gompertz Interiors, in 2008, building up an award winning interior design practice specialising in bespoke kitchens. She was one of 4 finalists for KBB Review Kitchen Designer of the Year, 2018 Project Cost £30,000-£50,000.

Laura's paintings are in private collections in France, The Netherlands, Finland, Germany, USA, Ireland and the UK.
